{"id":70809,"date":"2016-05-22T19:34:06","date_gmt":"2016-05-22T19:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f97862b52b8ce5525abccd189bfa4f2d"},"modified":"2016-05-22T19:34:06","modified_gmt":"2016-05-22T19:34:06","slug":"news-story-photocentric-firm-develops-award-winning-3d-printing-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=70809","title":{"rendered":"News story: Photocentric: firm develops award-winning 3D printing technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A business set up to develop innovative photo-sensitive materials, or photopolymers, has won a European award for developing a new 3D printing technology.<\/p>\n<p>Peterborough-based <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.photocentric3d.com\/\">Photocentric<\/a> began developing the 3D printing technology after winning a grant from Innovate UK to develop a prototype.<\/p>\n<p>Its idea was to use an unmodified liquid crystal display (LCD) screen emitting pure daylight as the imaging source and to develop polymers to work with it.<\/p>\n<p>The resulting Daylight Polymer Printing technology led to the company winning the Europe 2016 award for innovation in 3D printing made at the IDTechEx show in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>The company  also won a Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in this year\u2019s awards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/innovation-apply-for-a-funding-award\">Find out more about applying for Innovate UK funding.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"innovation-is-at-the-core-of-photocentric\">Innovation is at the core of Photocentric<\/h2>\n<p>Paul Holt, managing director of Photocentric, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Innovation is one of our business\u2019s core principles and in 3D Printing we have invented a completely new way to create images.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">This award has meant more to us because it was chosen by industry experts who have recognised the technical achievement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"companys-3d-printer-brings-big-advantages\">Company\u2019s 3D printer brings big advantages<\/h2>\n<p>The biggest advantage of Photocentric\u2019s 3D printer is the LCD screen. The screens are manufactured in huge volumes and cost only a few pounds.
