{"id":71243,"date":"2016-06-07T13:38:48","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T13:38:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=cdda94ed3266156b55b8b67b7ba461cf"},"modified":"2016-06-07T13:38:48","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T13:38:48","slug":"news-story-less-than-a-week-left-to-apply-for-2016-bps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71243","title":{"rendered":"News story: Less than a week left to apply for 2016 BPS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>With less than a week to apply for the 2016 Basic Payment Scheme (<abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr>), the Rural Payments Agency (<abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr>) is reminding farmers who may still want to claim that the final deadline of midnight on 10 June is fast approaching.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are being encouraged to submit their <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> claim as soon as possible as a 1% penalty applies for every working day it is received after the initial 16 May deadline. For those applying for new entitlements from the national reserve, the penalty rate is 3%.<\/p>\n<p>A range of support is still available in person and by telephone until 5pm, and online until midnight, on final deadline day.<\/p>\n<p>This support includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A dedicated Rural Services helpline on 03000 200 301, open from 8.30am to 5pm<\/li>\n<li>Online support centres in Reading, Newcastle, Workington, Carlisle and Exeter open from 9am to 5pm. (Arrive by 4pm if visiting without an appointment)<\/li>\n<li>Support is also available, by appointment, at <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr>\u2019s Foss House office in York between 8.30am and 5pm<\/li>\n<li>A range of guidance videos on the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCephlX7TU4emwmA03yOZ1pQ\"><abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> YouTube channel<\/a> includes <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/27zG4qq\">\u2018Hints and Tips\u2019<\/a>, advice on <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1WXB8F9\">changing land use<\/a> and a <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1StuVRN\">general overview<\/a> of how to apply online<\/li>\n<li>Step-by-step <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/509141\/R2_onscreen_Help_-_GOV.UK_combined_v0.1.pdf\">onscreen help<\/a> is available throughout the application process and this useful guidance can also be printed off<\/li>\n<li>A useful \u2018Hints and Tips\u2019 document is also available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/bps-2016\">GOV.UK\/rpa\/bps2016<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After midnight on 10 June applications will not be accepted, except for exceptional circumstances. Claimants can find further information online at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/bps-2016\">GOV.UK\/rpa\/bps2016<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/505559\/BPS_2016_scheme_rules_FINAL__DS_.pdf\"><abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 scheme rules<\/a> (page 109).<\/p>\n<p>Online applicants can easily check their claim has been received by clicking on the \u2018Apply for <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr>\u2019 screen on the Rural Payments service. Receipts are also being sent out for applications submitted by paper.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers can notify the <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> of errors in their application without penalty at any time provided <abbr title=\"Rural Payments Agency\">RPA<\/abbr> has not already told them about it or they have had notice of an inspection. Claimants can find further information online at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/bps-2016\">GOV.UK\/rpa\/bps2016<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/505559\/BPS_2016_scheme_rules_FINAL__DS_.pdf\"><abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> 2016 scheme rules<\/a> (page 7).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"planned-2015-bps-reconciliation-process\">Planned 2015 <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> reconciliation process<\/h2>\n<p>The new Rural Payments service has been designed to increase the accuracy of payments by automatically carrying out more in-depth checks than the previous system. By making use of satellite data, aerial photography and digital maps, we are now able to check the land being claimed under <abbr title=\"Basic Payment Scheme\">BPS<\/abbr> matches the information held on the system.<\/p>\n<p>Where there is discrepancy between a claim and the information held by Rural Payments, only the amount of the claim that matches is paid out.<\/p>\n<p>Rural Payments also differs from its predecessor, the Single Payment Scheme with new requirements such as greening.
