{"id":71388,"date":"2016-06-14T10:39:03","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T10:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=aeaf80136ba9285424c62ac811767242"},"modified":"2016-06-14T10:39:03","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T10:39:03","slug":"news-story-dio-showcases-infrastructure-progress-at-rnas-yeovilton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71388","title":{"rendered":"News story: DIO showcases infrastructure progress at RNAS Yeovilton"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The site is to become the new home for both the Royal Navy\u2019s and the army\u2019s Wildcat helicopter forces.<\/p>\n<p>The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (<abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>) Project team is working with partner Carillion on the Wildcat Infrastructure (<abbr title=\"Wildcat Infrastructure (Winfra) programme\">Winfra<\/abbr>) programme to provide the new training and office facilities, squadron buildings and living accommodation which will ensure that both servicemen and women at the air base are able to train for deployment using both the existing fleet of Lynx helicopters and the Wildcat.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is delivering 4 major projects with a value of between \u00a38 million and \u00a352 million. These include the refurbishment and remodelling of a number of hangars and the delivery of technical facilities, together with 2 new build squadron office buildings and a number of other new facilities such as the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess with associated single living accommodation (SLA), cardiovascular fitness suite, Dental Centre, and refurbished Medical Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Thornton, <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> Project Manager said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> is helping keep the country safe by investing in the infrastructure the armed forces need to do their jobs effectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\"><abbr title=\"Wildcat Infrastructure (Winfra) programme\">Winfra<\/abbr> is an exciting and ambitious project which has enabled Royal Naval Air Station (<abbr title=\"Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton,\">RNAS<\/abbr>) Yeovilton to become the new home for the army\u2019s Wildcat Helicopter Force, while supporting the transition of the Royal Navy fleet of Lynx helicopters into the new Wildcat maritime helicopter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When the refurbishment and building work is completed on the site, <abbr title=\"Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton,\">RNAS<\/abbr> Yeovilton will provide the necessary infrastructure to support the navy and army Wildcat in the same operational base. It will also deliver efficiencies as the single operating base for Wildcat.
