{"id":71520,"date":"2016-06-20T13:01:01","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T13:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d8705b49814c995c5432c812ab60361c"},"modified":"2016-06-20T13:01:01","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T13:01:01","slug":"news-story-cma-approves-k-y-licence-in-uk-to-thornton-ross","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71520","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA approves K-Y licence in UK to Thornton &amp; Ross"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Reckitt Benckiser and Johnson &amp; Johnson supply personal lubricants to a number of retailers under the Durex and K-Y brands respectively, and Reckitt Benckiser agreed to purchase the K-Y business from Johnson &amp; Johnson in March 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/-reckitt-benckiser-johnson-johnson\">final report on the merger<\/a>, the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) concluded that the merger may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition and higher prices for personal lubricants for consumers. The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> required that, in order to complete the merger, Reckitt Benckiser must license the K-Y business in the UK to a third party for a period of 8 years.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> assessed the prospective licensees shortlisted by Reckitt Benckiser in accordance with the requirements of the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s final report.
