{"id":71737,"date":"2016-06-29T08:48:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-29T08:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=49a4042d1dbf6ff12e75fe382250e923"},"modified":"2016-06-29T08:48:00","modified_gmt":"2016-06-29T08:48:00","slug":"government-response-communities-secretary-visits-dar-al-islam-mosque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71737","title":{"rendered":"Government response: Communities Secretary visits Dar Al Islam Mosque"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Addressing issues of community cohesion since last Thursday\u2019s (23 June 2016) EU referendum while visiting Dar Al Islam Mosque in London for the Big Iftar, Communities Secretary Greg Clark, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>By opening the doors of your mosque, by inviting friends to share food, you are celebrating values that transcend any one religion, values that are important to all British citizens. These values are the ties that bind us together.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m proud that this is a country where we don\u2019t simply tolerate one another\u2019s beliefs, but where we actively celebrate the diversity among us.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m proud that this is a country where people are free to observe \u2013 to celebrate \u2013 their religion and culture.<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019m most proud of all that this is a country where we draw pleasure, and strength, from those differences.<\/p>\n<p>Those values \u2013 religious freedom, respect for others, pleasure and strength from diversity \u2013 are more important now than ever.<\/p>\n<p>After the referendum, with its close result, we must redouble our efforts to come together as One Nation.<\/p>\n<p>Hateful thoughts can too easily morph into wicked acts.
