{"id":71817,"date":"2016-06-30T12:35:49","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T12:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=95067d3443e2a2d8a170e935626eebb6"},"modified":"2016-06-30T12:35:49","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T12:35:49","slug":"news-story-cash-boost-for-cleaner-greener-vans-and-lorries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71817","title":{"rendered":"News story: Cash boost for cleaner, greener vans and lorries"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Up to \u00a319 million will be available to support the freight industry\u2019s efforts to reduce vehicle emissions, Transport Minister Andrew Jones announced today, 30 June 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The money will help fleets of commercial vehicles access the very latest in innovative low and zero emission vehicle technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will be available for applications from small local delivery firms as well large distribution <abbr title=\"heavy goods vehicle\">HGV<\/abbr> fleets. Part of the funding will also go towards new alternative fuel infrastructure such as electric vehicle chargepoints. The competition will open for bids in July.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Andrew Jones at the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership annual conference.\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/53925\/960-aj-lcvp-conference.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Transport Minister Andrew Jones said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are always looking at new ways to make the vehicles on our roads cleaner, and this funding will support the freight industry to embrace the latest technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>\u2019s low emission vehicle industry is a huge success story and a source of strength in our economy. Today\u2019s announcement is further proof that the government is leading the way as global demand for these vehicles grows.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The scheme will be funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (<abbr title=\"Office for Low Emission Vehicles\">OLEV<\/abbr>) through Innovate <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>, the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>\u2019s innovation agency.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Low emission taxi.\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/53926\/960-low-emission-taxi.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Speaking at the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership annual conference, Andrew Jones also announced a low carbon <abbr title=\"heavy goods vehicle\">HGV<\/abbr> technology accreditation scheme, which will provide fleet operators with an independent validation of how much fuel they could save by adopting the latest retrofit technologies onto their existing vehicles.
