{"id":71841,"date":"2016-06-30T16:50:19","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T16:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=327c00cdff425d9cf27a11a4ca99bb99"},"modified":"2016-06-30T16:50:19","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T16:50:19","slug":"news-story-public-health-champions-honoured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71841","title":{"rendered":"News story: Public health champions honoured"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Excellence in Public Health and Wellbeing 2016 celebration event honoured unsung heroes from across England who are leading local initiatives to improve the nation\u2019s health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration, on Tuesday 28 June at Portcullis House in London, was an opportunity to recognise the people who go above and beyond to make local schemes and initiatives a success. In all, 82 nominations were received from across the country, 33 of which were selected to receive special recognition at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Public Health, Jane Ellison MP said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It was a great privilege to meet this years\u2019 Public Health Heroes at the celebration event and hear how they are tackling important health challenges in their communities. Their vital work is often undertaken quietly and without recognition so it was wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Professor Kevin Fenton, Director of Health and Wellbeing at Public Health England, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>One of the things we constantly see in Public Health England is that real grass roots initiatives \u2013 those that are by communities for communities &#8211; often have the biggest impact in really tackling health challenges and making a difference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The people we are celebrating today know their local area best and they know how to change things for the better.
