{"id":71966,"date":"2016-07-05T14:42:54","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T14:42:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=e62439ba7b2383dc2375245f30f7bdb4"},"modified":"2016-07-05T14:42:54","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T14:42:54","slug":"news-story-low-carbon-niche-vehicles-apply-for-business-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71966","title":{"rendered":"News story: Low carbon niche vehicles: apply for business funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Niche Vehicle Network has up to \u00a32.3 million to fund a variety of projects to demonstrate new low carbon technologies on vehicles and to develop working prototypes.<\/p>\n<p>It is promoting two competitions, supported by Innovate UK, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/office-for-low-emission-vehicles\">Office for Low Emission Vehicles<\/a> (OLEV) and the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apcuk.co.uk\/\">Advanced Propulsion Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Niche Vehicle Network supports manufacturers of niche vehicles, such as premium brand sports cars and specialist commercial vehicles, and their suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>Up to \u00a31.3 million is available for early market low carbon technology demonstration projects and a further \u00a31 million to take existing projects from demonstration to production readiness.<\/p>\n<p>Technology areas funded could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>lightweight vehicle and powertrain structures<\/li>\n<li>electric machines and power electronics<\/li>\n<li>energy storage and energy management<\/li>\n<li>disruptive low emission vehicle technologies<\/li>\n<li>reduced emissions from internal combustion engines<\/li>\n<li>aerodynamics development<\/li>\n<li>digital innovation in low-volume manufacturing<\/li>\n<li>alternative propulsion systems<\/li>\n<li>internal combustion engines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Simon Edmonds, director of manufacturing and materials at Innovate UK, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We have been supporting the Niche Vehicle Networks\u2019 R&amp;D programme since 2012 and are delighted to be continuing that support this year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The competition is part of our wider programme of activity for low carbon vehicles technologies funded by Innovate UK and our partners at OLEV and the Advanced Propulsion Centre.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I\u2019d urge interested SMEs to take advantage of this latest round and look forward to seeing the competition winners at LCV2016.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-manufacturing-and-materials\">Find out more about how Innovate UK is supporting the UK automotive sector<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"competition-information\">Competition information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>both competitions are open and applicants must request an application pack by noon on 29 July 2016. The deadline for applications is noon on 19 August 2016<\/li>\n<li>projects must be led by a business.
