{"id":71989,"date":"2016-07-05T17:00:04","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T17:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=7ef47d8219e04a6e40233ab0b8315885"},"modified":"2016-07-05T17:00:04","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T17:00:04","slug":"press-release-eid-al-fitr-2016-david-camerons-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=71989","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Eid al-Fitr 2016: David Cameron&#8217;s message"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cvY7Aud8kdE\">Eid 2016: David Cameron\u2019s message<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"full-transcript\">Full transcript<\/h2>\n<p>As the presents are wrapped, the food is prepared and the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>I want to send my very best wishes to Muslims at home and around the world celebrating Eid.<\/p>\n<p>I look at the things people are doing in Britain for the occasion \u2013 putting on special brunches for the lonely, giving presents out at children\u2019s hospitals, holding street parties that will bring communities together and I see the very best of British values \u2013 of unity, of tolerance, of thinking of others before ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>We need those values more than ever before, because we live in troubling times.<\/p>\n<p>This last month alone, we\u2019ve seen hatred take hold; from an airport in Istanbul, to a nightclub in Orlando, to a caf\u00e9 in Dhaka and this week\u2019s horrendous attack in Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p>And we\u2019ve seen it closer to home, too. Too many victims have suffered abuse and intolerance on our streets and one woman \u2013 an inspirational MP, Jo Cox \u2013 lost her life as she served her constituents.<\/p>\n<p>As we come together this Eid \u2013 friends, families, neighbours, colleagues \u2013 I want us to restate our commitment to the values we share, to all the things that make Britain the most successful multi-ethnic, multi-faith democracy on earth.<\/p>\n<p>So once again, let me wish you all the best \u2013 Eid Mubarak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&quot;I want to send my very best wishes to Muslims at home and around the world celebrating Eid.
