{"id":72010,"date":"2016-07-06T09:30:53","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T09:30:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=418c2121fa4f4ee2ac0214a77d74e7c0"},"modified":"2016-07-06T09:30:53","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T09:30:53","slug":"news-story-public-sector-pay-awards-for-2016-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=72010","title":{"rendered":"News story: Public sector pay awards for 2016-17"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The government has today (6 July 2016) set out the pay awards for school teachers and police officers in line with the policy of an average 1% pay rise in 2016 to 17.<\/p>\n<p>The government asked the following Pay Review Bodies to examine how an increase to base pay could be applied in line with the government\u2019s policy of an average of 1% across the workforces:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School Teachers\u2019 Review Body (STRB)<\/li>\n<li>Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB)<\/li>\n<li>Senior Salaries\u2019 Review Body (SSRB) for chief police officers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The government has accepted in full the recommendations for school teachers and police officers to receive an average of a 1% pay increase.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Greg Hands, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Our teachers and police officers do a fantastic job in challenging roles but pay restraint remains a crucial part of our plan to put the public finances back on track.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The independent Office for Budget Responsibility estimates that 200,000 public sector jobs have been protected thanks to our average 1% pay policy so we can continue to deliver vital public services.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The independent pay review bodies have worked hard to bring forward a balanced and affordable set of recommendations.
