Aggregates are used in the construction of roads, buildings, bridges and other infrastructure &#8211; as well as in the production of <abbr title=\"ready-mixed concrete\">RMX<\/abbr>, concrete products and asphalt. <abbr title=\"ready-mixed concrete\">RMX<\/abbr> is concrete which is produced in a freshly-mixed and unhardened state ready for use on site. The merged entity will operate over 200 <abbr title=\"ready-mixed concrete\">RMX<\/abbr> sites across England, Wales and Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) announced on 26 April 2016 that it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-to-consider-breedon-undertakings\">consider in detail a remedy<\/a> proposed by <abbr title=\"Breedon Aggregates Limited\">Breedon<\/abbr> instead of referring the case for an in-depth merger investigation.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Breedon Aggregates Limited\">Breedon<\/abbr> has offered to sell 14 <abbr title=\"ready-mixed concrete\">RMX<\/abbr> sites to Tarmac and the Concrete Company, both of which have been approved by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has accepted the <span id=\"attachment_1650260\" class=\"attachment-inline\"><br \/>\n  <a href=\"\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/540932\/breedon-final-undertakings.pdf\">remedy<\/a><br \/>\n  (<span class=\"type\"><abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/span>, <span class=\"file-size\">5.7MB<\/span>, <span class=\"page-length\">17 pages<\/span>)<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n, which it considers appropriate to resolve its concerns.
