(<abbr title=\"Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc.\">Acadia<\/abbr>), through its subsidiary Partnerships in Care (<abbr title=\"Partnerships in Care\">PiC<\/abbr>), acquired the entire issued shared capital of <abbr title=\"Priory Group No. 1 Ltd\">Priory<\/abbr> Group No. 1 Ltd (<abbr title=\"Priory Group No. 1 Ltd\">Priory<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>On 14 July 2016 the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/acadiapriory-merger-faces-in-depth-investigation\">announced<\/a> that this could lead to a substantial lessening of competition (<abbr title=\"substantial lessening of competition\">SLC<\/abbr>) in 21 overlaps across 5 mental healthcare services provided by both companies to NHS organisations and local authorities in England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> therefore said that the merger would be referred for an in-depth phase 2 investigation unless <abbr title=\"Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc.\">Acadia<\/abbr> was able to offer undertakings which address the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s competition concerns.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc.\">Acadia<\/abbr> has now offered undertakings to address the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s concerns by offering to sell either <abbr title=\"Priory Group No. 1 Ltd\">Priory<\/abbr> or <abbr title=\"Partnerships in Care\">PiC<\/abbr> hospitals in the affected areas to an up-front buyer, to be approved by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> considers that there are reasonable grounds for believing that the undertakings offered, or a modified version of them, might be acceptable and will formally consult on the undertakings shortly.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> now has until 23 September 2016 to decide whether to accept <abbr title=\"Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc.\">Acadia<\/abbr>\u2019s proposed undertakings or refer the merger for a phase 2 investigation, with the possibility of extending this time frame to 18 November if needed.<\/p>\n<p>Information relating to this investigation can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/acadia-healthcare-company-priory-group-merger-inquiry\">case page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Enquiries should be directed to Neil Kernohan (<a href=\"mailto:neil.kernohan@cma.gsi.gov.uk\">neil.kernohan@cma.gsi.gov.uk<\/a>, 0203 738 6170).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CMA is considering undertakings offered by Acadia to address competition concerns following its acquisition of Priory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/72830"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=72830"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/72830\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=72830"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=72830"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=72830"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
