{"id":73443,"date":"2016-08-23T10:19:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T10:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=0edcfefe18495e19ce216df7fca541a7"},"modified":"2016-08-23T10:19:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T10:19:00","slug":"press-release-skinningrove-flood-recovery-work-starts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=73443","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Skinningrove flood recovery work starts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Repair work in Skinningrove includes channel clearance and replacement and repairs to debris screens on the Kilton Beck, as well as improving access so they can be cleaned and maintained.<\/p>\n<p>The work started on Monday, August 22, and is expected to take around three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s part of a \u00a33million Environment Agency recovery programme to restore damaged flood defences and recover from storms which hit the North East last winter.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Cadas, Environment Agency Operations Manager for the North East, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The storms this past winter had a terrible impact on people\u2019s lives, homes and businesses and we\u2019re in the process of carrying out repair works across the North East.<\/p>\n<p>Residents will see us on site in Skinningrove this week and beyond carrying our recovery projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Work to get our assets back to the condition they were in prior to the storms is a challenge, but we\u2019re working tirelessly to restore protection to communities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Environment Agency is working closely with Northumbrian Water and local authorities to carry out recovery projects.<\/p>\n<p>A community event \u2013 hosted by the Environment Agency and partners &#8211; was held in Skinningrove earlier this year, which included a live Flood Warning Siren test and a demonstration of new flood defences.<\/p>\n<p>The event was to help the community be better prepared for flooding.<\/p>\n<p>The flood defences in the village were upgraded in a project completed in September 2015, meaning the bridge parapets at Zetland Row now lower automatically at the push of a button, rather than having to be lowered manually.<\/p>\n<p>It significantly reduces the time needed to ensure the flood gates are closed and parapets are lowered when river levels are high.<\/p>\n<p>The Environment Agency\u2019s Flood Resilience team has been working with residents to finalise a Community Action Plan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Work has started in the village of Skinningrove as part of the Environment Agency\u2019s multi-million pound flood recovery programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/73443"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=73443"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/73443\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=73443"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=73443"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=73443"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
