{"id":73622,"date":"2016-08-30T06:00:09","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T06:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=7c95ad390905f29aad6603f136c89442"},"modified":"2016-08-30T06:00:09","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T06:00:09","slug":"news-story-cma-refers-cashpoint-merger-for-in-depth-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=73622","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA refers cashpoint merger for in-depth investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>On 19 August the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cashpoint-merger-faces-in-depth-investigation\">said it would refer the merger for an in-depth investigation<\/a> unless Diebold offered acceptable undertakings to address the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s competition concerns about the supply of customer-operated ATMs in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> gave Diebold until 26 August to offer proposals to address the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s concerns in lieu of a reference. As Diebold has not offered satisfactory undertakings, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> will therefore now refer the merger.<\/p>\n<p>A decision on the merger will be made by a group of independent panel members supported by a case team of <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> staff.
