They can also adapt successful technologies, techniques or processes from other fields.<\/p>\n<p>You could apply with a proposal in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>buildings and areas<\/li>\n<li>goods<\/li>\n<li>people and\/or their possessions<\/li>\n<li>vehicles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Small Business Research Initiative<\/a> (SBRI) competition run in partnership with Innovate UK.<\/p>\n<p>The government partners for this competition are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/home-office\">Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism and Centre for Applied Science and Technology at the Home Office<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-transport\">Department for Transport<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cpni.gov.uk\/\">Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/defence-science-and-technology-laboratory\">Defence Science and Technology Laboratory<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/content.met.police.uk\">Metropolitan Police Service<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/science-and-technology\">U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The competition has 2 phases:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"phase-1---proof-of-concept\">Phase 1 &#8211; proof of concept<\/h3>\n<p>Up to \u00a31 million is available. Projects should last up to 6 months with total costs of up to \u00a360,000.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"phase-2---development-contacts\">Phase 2 &#8211; development contacts<\/h3>\n<p>Up to \u00a32 million is available.
