{"id":73676,"date":"2016-08-31T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T15:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ddb219be72c186b0e151e975621e5b65"},"modified":"2016-08-31T15:15:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T15:15:00","slug":"news-story-islington-man-pleads-guilty-to-providing-illegal-immigration-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=73676","title":{"rendered":"News story: Islington man pleads guilty to providing illegal immigration advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Mr Victors Eta Washington-Don, 47, of Stranraer Way, Islington, London pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates Court on 31 August 2016, to one charge of providing unregulated immigration advice or services committed since February 2015.<\/p>\n<p>He was sentenced by Judge Coleman to a fine of \u00a3750. He was also ordered to pay \u00a31,280 costs, \u00a3120 victim surcharge and \u00a34,094 compensation.<\/p>\n<p>He will pay \u00a31,400 compensation today and the rest within 28 days. A collection order has been put in place.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Coleman said that Mr Washington-Don was not qualified or authorised to act as an immigration adviser but still took the money from his victim.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the decision, Deputy Immigration Services Commissioner, Dr Ian Leigh, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OISC is here to ensure that people seeking immigration advice are treated fairly by people they can trust to be fit and competent.
