It aims to build pride in, raise the profile of, and encourage fresh talent into the <abbr title=\"Government Science and Engineering profession\">GSE<\/abbr> profession.<\/p>\n<p>As well as showcasing the important role that scientists and engineers have played across the centuries, the \u2018<abbr title=\"Government Science and Engineering profession\">GSE<\/abbr> story\u2019 also highlights examples of innovation and collaboration happening today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/mark-walport\">Sir Mark Walport<\/a>, Head of Government Science and Engineering, has said that:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Government Science and Engineering profession\">GSE<\/abbr> story highlights how science advice and evidence adds value to government decision making.
