{"id":73808,"date":"2016-09-05T14:02:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T14:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=11ae565c1513ce58ca4d993e3ad0e786"},"modified":"2016-09-05T14:02:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-05T14:02:00","slug":"press-release-a585-congestion-relief-consultation-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=73808","title":{"rendered":"Press release: A585 congestion relief consultation launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A 6 week consultation over plans to tackle congestion along a section of the A585 between Fleetwood and the M55 in Lancashire, was launched by Highways England today (Monday 5 September) \u2013 with improvements to the existing route or building a new bypass being suggested.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its 5-year, \u00a311 billion investment in the strategic road network, the Government wants Highways England to improve drivers\u2019 journeys between Windy Harbour and Skippool near Poulton-le-Fylde where the Shard and Little Singleton junctions are particular congestion bottlenecks.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A585 Windy Harbour img 1\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/56024\/WH1.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The 2.7 miles section is one of the busiest and most congested along the 11.5 mile  route and after the initiative was included in the Government\u2019s first Road Investment Strategy in December 2014, Highways England began investigating options for improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England project manager Sophie Diver said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The consultation is a chance for people in this part of Lancashire to have their say on workable ideas for improving the A585 &#8211; with a view to starting construction on improvements before the end of the current roads delivery programme in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We urge local people and other regular users of the A585 to get involved in this consultation and help shape these important improvements for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A585 Windy Harbour img 2\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/56025\/WH2.jpg\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The consultation period will run from today until Monday 17 October and features 3 public information exhibitions as well as an options brochure and questionnaire.<\/p>\n<p>Two options are being proposed following months of route analysis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a new dual carriageway \u2013 itself with some options on details &#8211;
