{"id":74085,"date":"2016-09-13T09:37:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-13T09:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=270d3c3353ac589a6b66782db83266a1"},"modified":"2016-10-03T12:48:41","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T12:48:41","slug":"news-story-connected-cities-mission-apply-to-join-trade-delegation-to-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=74085","title":{"rendered":"News story: Connected cities mission: apply to join trade delegation to India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Updated:<\/em> Updated link to register<\/p>\n<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-international-trade\">Department for International Trade<\/a>, Innovate UK and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/uk-trade-and-investment-defence-and-security-organisation\">UK Defence and Security Organisation<\/a> are seeking businesses with expertise in fields that could allow them to take advantage of the growing smart cities market in India.<\/p>\n<p>Successful businesses will have the opportunity to participate in the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciitechknow.com\/\">India-UK Tech Summit<\/a> in New Delhi, take part in market briefings, visit other cities including Pune and Kochi, and pitch to potential customers, partners and investors.<\/p>\n<p>The November trade mission is likely to offer opportunities in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>waste management<\/li>\n<li>the circular economy<\/li>\n<li>water and waster water management<\/li>\n<li>hygiene<\/li>\n<li>greater access to open public spaces and pedestrian friendly infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>intelligent transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This latest mission follows a successful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/overseas-mission-uk-firms-take-ideas-to-malaysia-and-singapore\">Connected Cities Mission to South East Asia in March 2016<\/a>, when 10 businesses were able to showcase their expertise and make connections that are already generating value.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"march-2016-connected-cities-mission-to-asia\">March 2016 Connected Cities Mission to Asia<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Iqc0f8LYXJQ\">Connected Cities Mission to Asia<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"indian-cities-expect-to-invest-24-billion\">Indian cities expect to invest \u00a324 billion<\/h2>\n<p>UK companies are at the forefront of innovation in smart cities technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Between now and 2050, some 600 million people are expected to move into Indian cities. The Indian government and state authorities are investing \u00a3100 million to help cities develop smart infrastructure and attract private investment.<\/p>\n<p>They aim to create 100 smart cities over the next 5-to-7 years.
