The service was organised by the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>\u2019s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (<abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr>), part of Defence Business Services.<\/p>\n<p>The service was presided over by The Duke of Lancaster\u2019s Regimental Chaplain, The Reverend Simon Bloxam-Rose. Also in attendance was the Defence Attach\u00e9 from the British Embassy, local dignitaries, the Royal British Legion, veterans and local school children. The Brigadier and Colonel of the Duke of Lancaster\u2019s Regiment were also present along with serving soldiers from the Battalion.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The Duke of Lancaster\u2019s Regimental Chaplain, The Reverend Simon Bloxam-Rose conducting the service, Crown Copyright, All rights reserved\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/56346\/Photo_4.jpg\"><\/div><figcaption>The Duke of Lancaster\u2019s Regimental Chaplain, The Reverend Simon Bloxam-Rose conducting the service, Crown Copyright, All rights reserved<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The identity of the graves was discovered when the Dutch Recovery and Identification Service, part of The Royal Netherlands Army, began looking at a list of missing soldiers from the 1st Battalion, The Border Regiment to attempt to identify their final resting places. Exhumation reports from 1946 were scrutinised for clues to the identities of 6 unknown soldiers at Oosterbeek cemetery. Their research was then presented to the Ministry of Defence (<abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>) <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> who undertook further analysis to confirm the identification. Once identified, the <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> used genealogy and media appeals to trace the individuals\u2019 surviving family members, before organising today\u2019s service.<\/p>\n<p>Nicola Nash, from the <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We are very happy to be able to finally give these men a named grave.
