{"id":74478,"date":"2016-09-27T12:28:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T12:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=5a559be6bb4c3b712546196339a116ac"},"modified":"2016-09-27T12:28:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-27T12:28:00","slug":"news-story-new-tb-report-shows-continuing-decline-in-cases-in-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=74478","title":{"rendered":"News story: New TB report shows continuing decline in cases in England"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistics\/reports-of-cases-of-tb-to-uk-enhanced-tuberculosis-surveillance-systems\">annual <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> report<\/a>, published today (27 September 2016), describes the recent epidemiology of <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> in England since the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/collaborative-tuberculosis-strategy-for-england\">Collaborative <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> Strategy<\/a> in January 2015.<\/p>\n<p>It presents new data to the end of 2015 and provides an update on trends and the impact of <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> at a national and local level.<\/p>\n<p>Overall the data shows there has been a year on year decline in the incidence of <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> in England over the past 4 years, down to 10.5 cases per 100,000 (5,758 cases) in 2015, a reduction of one third since the peak of 15.6 cases per 100,000 (8,280) in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The reduction in the number of cases has occurred in both the non-UK born and UK born population and in all regions of the country, with the decline in non-UK born cases occurring particularly among new migrants.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s annual report provides evidence of a very positive start to the early implementation of the <abbr title=\"tuberculosis\">TB<\/abbr> Strategy for England, however, there is much still to do.
