{"id":74544,"date":"2016-09-28T15:03:50","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T15:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=29692b9d74ba4c95257df60627476768"},"modified":"2016-09-28T15:03:50","modified_gmt":"2016-09-28T15:03:50","slug":"news-story-public-invited-to-meet-the-regulators-of-oil-and-gas-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=74544","title":{"rendered":"News story: Public invited to meet the regulators of oil and gas industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive, Oil and Gas Authority and Public Health England staff are hosting an informal information session on 5 October to explain how they regulate the oil and gas industry to protect people and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is welcome to come along and meet the regulators and agencies between 2.00pm \u2013 7.00pm on Wednesday 5 October 2016 at the Crossing Church &amp; Centre, Newcastle Street, Worksop, S80 2AT.<\/p>\n<p>As regulators and agencies involved in assessing the impacts of the oil and gas industry our role is to ensure that any exploration and development, including fracking operations, is done in a way that protects people and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Local communities rightly look to us all to provide reassurance that health and environmental risks are being controlled and managed properly, and to hold oil and gas operators to account.<\/p>\n<p>This session will be a great opportunity for us to meet with local people, explain our respective roles and discuss some of the key issues before sites are identified for development.<\/p>\n<p>Regulating shale gas<br \/>\nThe Environment Agency is the principal environmental regulator in England.
