{"id":74598,"date":"2016-09-29T14:57:15","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T14:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f6f8f5a1048f21bb21f8a7a726fcfc4d"},"modified":"2016-09-29T14:57:15","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T14:57:15","slug":"news-story-hinkley-point-c-contract-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=74598","title":{"rendered":"News story: Hinkley Point C contract signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>During a signing ceremony in London, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Clark, the Chairman and CEO of EDF, Jean-Bernard Levy and the Chairman of CGN, He Yu signed the final documentation to enable Hinkley Point C to go-ahead.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the Government\u2019s decision to proceed with the project following a comprehensive review and revised agreement with EDF.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of the Contract for Difference and Secretary of State Investor Agreement for Hinkley Point C marks a significant step forward for a new era of nuclear power in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Signing the Contract for Difference for Hinkley Point C is a crucial moment in the UK\u2019s first new nuclear power station for a generation and follows new measures put in place by Government to strengthen security and ownership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Britain needs to upgrade its supplies of energy, and we have always been clear that nuclear power stations like Hinkley play an important part in ensuring our future low-carbon energy security.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The event was also attended by Jean-Marc Ayrault, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development and Minister Nur Bekri, the Administrator of the National Energy Administration of China.<\/p>\n<p>Hinkley will provide seven per cent of Britain\u2019s electricity needs for sixty years.
