{"id":75284,"date":"2016-10-24T10:01:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-24T10:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=6d64f8061e27a786113f36df967a62eb"},"modified":"2016-10-24T10:01:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-24T10:01:00","slug":"news-story-cma-to-consider-fuel-pumps-merger-remedy-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=75284","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA to consider fuel pumps merger remedy offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Earlier this month, the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/merger-of-fuel-pump-providers-could-face-in-depth-investigation\">announced<\/a> that Dover Corporation\u2019s (Dover) anticipated acquisition of Wayne Fueling Systems (Wayne) would face an in-depth investigation \u2013 unless the companies could address concerns over the merger\u2019s effect on competition in the supply of fuel dispensers in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Both companies are global manufacturers and suppliers of industrial equipment and components, including fuel dispensers and automation and payment systems for retail and commercial fuel stations.<\/p>\n<p>Dover and Wayne have proposed two alternative undertakings to the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>: either (i) Dover would release Tokheim SSD from its obligation to only distribute Dover\u2019s fuel dispensers in the UK, and Dover would also take measures to support Tokheim SSD distributing a rival manufacturer\u2019s fuel dispensers in the UK; or (ii) Wayne would sell its UK distribution business to a buyer, to be approved by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has decided that there are reasonable grounds for believing that one of these proposals, or a modified version of them, might be acceptable to remedy the competition concerns it has identified.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has until 19 December 2016 to consider whether to accept a remedy, although the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> may decide to extend this deadline to 16 February 2017 if it decides that there are special reasons for doing so.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its process, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> will undertake a public consultation.<\/p>\n<p>If the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> does not accept one of the remedies proposed, the merger will be referred for an in-depth investigation.<\/p>\n<p>All information relating to this investigation can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/dover-corporation-wayne-fueling-systems-ltd-merger-inquiry\">case page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CMA is to consider whether undertakings offered by Dover and Wayne remove the need to carry out an in-depth merger investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/75284"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=75284"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/75284\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":75303,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/75284\/revisions\/75303"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=75284"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=75284"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=75284"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
