{"id":75845,"date":"2016-11-08T12:00:15","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T12:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=924fa59bb7d56b951fa922cc7306f944"},"modified":"2016-11-08T12:00:15","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T12:00:15","slug":"news-story-manufacturing-and-materials-for-nuclear-apply-for-contracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=75845","title":{"rendered":"News story: Manufacturing and materials for nuclear: apply for contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-business-energy-and-industrial-strategy\">The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy<\/a> (BEIS) has up to \u00a35 million to invest in innovative manufacturing and materials technologies that benefit the UK\u2019s civil nuclear sector.<\/p>\n<p>The funding competition is part of the UK\u2019s nuclear manufacturing and materials research programme that aims to improve the economic prospects of nuclear power technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The Government expects to invest up to \u00a3250 million in nuclear innovation over the next 4 years.<\/p>\n<p>Applications to this competition must be under one of the following 5 themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>structural materials: identifying potential structural materials, manufacturing processes and testing environments for targeted research and development; and developing advanced modelling approaches<\/li>\n<li>mechanisation and automation of component manufacture<\/li>\n<li>large-scale component manufacture and assembly<\/li>\n<li>development and verification of pre-fabricated modules<\/li>\n<li>design codes and standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition run by BEIS in partnership with Innovate UK.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will be run in two stages for the first three themes and in a single stage for the last two themes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Find out more about SBRI and how it has helped businesses.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"competition-information\">Competition information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>the competition is open, and the deadline for registration is at noon on 11 January 2017<\/li>\n<li>the first stage (themes 1, 2 and 3) is for technical feasibility studies lasting up to 3 months and worth up to \u00a325,000<\/li>\n<li>the most promising projects following stage 1 could receive further funding to develop their ideas in a second stage.
