It is looking for projects that address one or more of the following urban challenges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the governance of urban systems<\/li>\n<li>urban infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>sustainable urban environments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"brazilian-cities-face-challenges\">Brazilian cities face challenges<\/h2>\n<p>Brazilian cities face many challenges, including outdated infrastructure, the impact of climate change and dwindling resources, and the need to improve collection of information to inform policy-making,<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations estimates that the global urban population in 2050 will be nearly 70%. In Brazil, it is already greater than 85%.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil also represents a huge potential market for UK companies.<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-infrastructure-systems\">Find out more about how Innovate UK supports businesses working on infrastructure systems.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"competition-is-co-funded-in-brazil\">Competition is co-funded in Brazil<\/h2>\n<p>The UK element of the competition is funded by Innovate UK as part of the UK-Brazil Newton Fund.
