{"id":76092,"date":"2016-11-15T17:45:51","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T17:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=043c895ba6f226563bccf61ce8d9037b"},"modified":"2016-11-15T17:45:51","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T17:45:51","slug":"news-story-beyond-batteries-contracts-available-for-new-power-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=76092","title":{"rendered":"News story: Beyond batteries: contracts available for new power generation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/centre-for-defence-enterprise\">Centre for Defence Enterprise<\/a> (CDE) has up to \u00a3750,000 to invest in projects that investigate small and lightweight power generation that can be integrated into robotic systems and carried by a person.<\/p>\n<p>Projects with promising ideas could also be eligible to share a further \u00a3750,000 to improve them in a second phase.<\/p>\n<p>The CDE is particularly interested in technologies that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>improve endurance \u2013 stretching to days rather than minutes<\/li>\n<li>are lightweight and man-portable<\/li>\n<li>have high energy density \u2013 greater than 1,000 watt hours per kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The military is increasingly looking to robotic and autonomous systems for many functions, including resupply, logistics and other military uses.<\/p>\n<p>Use of autonomous systems is, however, limited by a lack of lightweight power systems.
