The consultation is being held on plans to transform the single carriageway between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross \u2013 one of the last bottlenecks in Cornwall \u2013 into a dual carriageway.<\/p>\n

Improving the A30 is part of the Government\u2019s \u00a315 billion investment into roads \u2013 the largest in a generation.
\nPublic consultation started on 15 October and so far public exhibitions have been held at the St Erme Community Centre in Trispen, Shortlanesend Village Hall and Blackwater Primary School.<\/p>\n

A fourth event has been organised at the Perranzabuloe Parish Rooms (Chyanhale, Ponsmere Valley, Perranporth, TR6 0DB) on 24 November (1.30pm-5.30pm), and consultation has now been extended until 2 December to allow people extra time to submit feedback.<\/p>\n

Project manager Mike Hillier said:<\/p>\n

The upgraded A30 will mean residents, businesses and visitors to Cornwall will be able to get around quicker and with less congestion than before.<\/p>\n

Consultation so far has been very positive and productive, we have had plenty of feedback and are taking all comments on board.<\/p>\n

The extra event will provide an additional opportunity for north coast communities to see the benefits this scheme will bring.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The scheme to improve the 8.7-mile stretch is part of a \u00a32 billion package to turn the A303\/A30A358 corridor into an expressway to the south west. The European Regional Development Fund is contributing \u00a38 million to the improvement scheme.<\/p>\n

The upgrade of the Temple to Higher Carblake section of the A30 is due to be completed next year and by improving the A30 between Chiverton and Carland Cross, Highways England will be working in partnership with Cornwall Council on a second joint project.<\/p>\n

A preferred route will be announced next year.<\/p>\n
