{"id":76479,"date":"2016-11-25T15:57:55","date_gmt":"2016-11-25T15:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=052662205ed03ed42a87e0ff01ad2403"},"modified":"2016-11-25T15:57:55","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T15:57:55","slug":"news-story-cma-publishes-details-of-enforcement-and-advocacy-outcomes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=76479","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA publishes details of enforcement and advocacy outcomes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) already publishes registers of undertakings and orders resulting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/mergers-orders-and-undertakings\">merger<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/markets-orders-and-undertakings-register\">market<\/a> investigations and this latest publication means that all remedies secured by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> are now readily accessible to interested parties.<\/p>\n<p>The enforcement and advocacy outcomes now being published cover 3 areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/competition-act-1998-directions-and-commitments-register\">Directions and commitments<\/a> currently in force from companies resulting from Competition Act investigations, which have been accepted or issued by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>, its predecessor organisation the Office of Fair Trading (<abbr title=\"Office of Fair Trading\">OFT<\/abbr>) or sector regulators. These are used to end anti-competitive conduct or address competition concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Recommendations made by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> to government, regulators, other public bodies and business groups as a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/cma-markets-work-recommendations\">market studies and investigations<\/a> as well as advocacy work \u2013 where from 2015, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> has had the power to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/cma-recommendations-to-government\">recommendations to the government<\/a> on the impact on competition arising from legislative proposals.<\/li>\n<li>Commitments secured from companies and individuals by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> since April 2014 as a result of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/consumer-enforcement-outcomes\">civil consumer enforcement work<\/a>, as well as commitments from companies secured by the <abbr title=\"Office of Fair Trading\">OFT<\/abbr> since January 2008.
