{"id":77053,"date":"2016-12-08T15:56:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T15:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=44ab9f6a5d0955b56ca3c2cded35b95b"},"modified":"2016-12-08T15:56:00","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T15:56:00","slug":"news-story-david-davis-visits-east-of-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=77053","title":{"rendered":"News story: David Davis visits East of England"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Throughout his visit, Mr Davis reassured businesses that we will listen to their concerns and ensure our new relationship with the EU works for business.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a full day tour, Mr Davis visited AstraZeneca in Cambridge to see their new \u00a3330m global research and development centre and headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary of State also had the opportunity to see the research being undertaken at the University of Cambridge on the Biomedical Campus. This included the world-class work at Cancer Research UK.<\/p>\n<p>During the day, David Davis also visited and met with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Lodge Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) nature reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire<\/li>\n<li>ARM, a European tech company based in Cambridge<\/li>\n<li>Academics from University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University and members of Cambridge Ahead, a business and academic member group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Speaking during his visit, Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Cambridge makes an enormous contribution to the UK economy and our global reputation for innovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">As the UK exits the EU, we are determined that our country remains a great place to invest and do business which is why we are listening to all regions of the UK to inform our negotiating priorities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The visit was part of an ongoing series of engagements with organisations, companies and institutions across the UK in order to build a national consensus around our negotiating position.
