It is currently in pre-application discussions with the Port on these.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> is committed to publishing any updates on its website and in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/falmouth-habour--2\">selected cases section<\/a> when available. The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> has also provided <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/marinedevelopments.blog.gov.uk\/2016\/09\/26\/falmouth-marine-licence-consultation-petition-campaign\/\">further explanation of the marine licensing decision-making process<\/a> to help the public understand when their views may be taken into account.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-currently-happening\">What is currently happening<\/h2>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> has received an enquiry from Falmouth Harbour Commissioners (FHC) to undertake a \u2018shadow\u2019 Appropriate Assessment of FHC proposals on maerl. These relate to the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/jncc.defra.gov.uk\/protectedsites\/sacselection\/sac.asp?EUCode=UK0013112\">Fal and Helford Special Area of Conservation (SAC).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This work is ongoing and the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> is reviewing the evidence and advice from internal advisors and Natural England.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr>\u2019s Head of Marine Licensing has been in contact with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) on this. The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> has also offered to meet with the MCS in the next month to provide an update on progress.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-pre-application-advice\">What is pre-application advice<\/h2>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> routinely holds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/marine-licensing-fees\/marine-licensing-fees#enquiries-and-before-you-apply\">pre-application discussions with developers<\/a> on proposed major projects.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018shadow\u2019 Appropriate Assessment is a preliminary view of the implications of a project on a European site. If a formal application for a marine licence is made to the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> any Appropriate Assessment, together with available evidence, is subject to full consultation.
