{"id":77801,"date":"2017-01-09T13:45:04","date_gmt":"2017-01-09T13:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=82d5095edd3bac3c97d8a1a77fa2e32b"},"modified":"2017-01-09T13:45:04","modified_gmt":"2017-01-09T13:45:04","slug":"news-story-defra-group-in-london-to-make-marsham-street-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=77801","title":{"rendered":"News story: Defra Group in London to make Marsham Street move"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Defra group staff currently working in London out of three different offices will relocate under one roof by early 2018, the department\u2019s Permanent Secretary Clare Moriarty announced today (Monday, 9 January 2017).<\/p>\n<p>The move for departmental and some agency teams to 2 Marsham Street in Westminster, where Home Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) are already based, comes as leases on nearby Ergon House and 9 Millbank end in June. Both buildings are to be redeveloped into residential property.<br \/>\nStaff presently based at Nobel House in nearby Smith Square will also relocate to Marsham Street as part of a move that will reduce Defra\u2019s London property costs by around \u00a32 million a year.<\/p>\n<p>The relocation will also help Government save \u00a3100 million by 2030 as it further streamlines its London estate as part of its ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/360262\/Government_estate_strategy.pdf\">reform programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Defra Permanent Secretary Clare Moriarty said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The expiry of leases at two of our properties has made it possible to take this opportunity to bring Defra group people in London together into one purpose-built office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We are now busy drawing up a detailed relocation schedule with the current occupants of 2 Marsham Street with my aim for Defra group to complete the move by early 2018.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Under the Whitehall Campus Strategy, the Government\u2019s Property Unit has reduced the government\u2019s central London estate from 181 properties in 2010 to 54.<\/p>\n<p>By 2025 this figure is expected to fall to some 20 efficient, fit-for-purpose buildings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The move is set to reduce Defra\u2019s London property costs by around \u00a32 million a year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77801"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=77801"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77801\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=77801"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=77801"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=77801"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
