{"id":78674,"date":"2017-02-06T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T13:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=03f89556c2c92d6e0069f50b401ae64f"},"modified":"2017-02-06T13:49:00","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T13:49:00","slug":"news-story-business-secretary-and-tuc-host-corporate-governance-roundtable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=78674","title":{"rendered":"News story: Business Secretary and TUC host corporate governance roundtable"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Experts from top businesses, institutional investors, unions and academia also took part in the discussion as part of a series of events to help inform the Government\u2019s consultation on corporate governance reform.<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by the High Pay Centre\u2019s Director, Stefan Stern, the event focused on identifying practical ways of improving the connection between boardrooms and employees, and options for ensuring that executive pay is set on a fair basis.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"following-the-meeting-business-secretary-greg-clark-said\">Following the meeting, Business Secretary Greg Clark said:<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWe have one of the most admired systems of corporate governance in the world and it is important that we hear from as many people as possible to understand how we can make further improvements to equip us for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was valuable to host a discussion with such a diverse group, all with the common goal of making sure Britain remains the place where business is done the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"general-secretary-of-the-tuc-frances-ogrady-said\">General Secretary of the TUC Frances O\u2019Grady said:<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis is an important conversation to have about British corporate governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorkers on boards is a common sense idea to ensure the voices of ordinary workers are heard at the highest levels.
