{"id":79296,"date":"2017-02-27T15:47:08","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T15:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2362d6754728b3335548efd0931be16f"},"modified":"2017-02-27T15:47:08","modified_gmt":"2017-02-27T15:47:08","slug":"news-story-first-innovation-fund-challenge-event-presentation-slides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=79296","title":{"rendered":"News story: First Innovation Fund challenge event &#8211; presentation slides"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>At the event in London, a series of presentations provided details of three challenges that make up the Defence and Security Accelerator competition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/accelerator-themed-competition-revolutionise-the-human-information-relationship-for-defence\">\u2018Revolutionise the human information relationship for Defence\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/MOD_CDE\/accelerator-first-innovation-fund-network-event-session-1-72625480\">set the scene<\/a>, Accelerator Acting Head Rob Solly and Innovation Partner Jim Pennycook opened the event, giving an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers.<\/p>\n<p>Rear Admiral Tim Fraser and military staff from Joint Force Command outlined the importance of this competition for defence.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"challenge-1\">Challenge 1<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/MOD_CDE\/accelerator-first-innovation-fund-network-event-session-1-72625480\">Challenge 1<\/a>: allowing rapid and automated integration of new sensors was introduced, with details provided from a military and technical perspective.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"challenge-2\">Challenge 2<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/HeatherFionaEgan\/accelerator-innovation-network-event-session-2\">Challenge 2<\/a>: free up personnel by the innovative use of machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) for military advantage was explained from a military and technical challenge perspective.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"challenge-3\">Challenge 3<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/HeatherFionaEgan\/accelerator-innovation-network-event-session-2\">Challenge 3<\/a>: make effective use of operator cognitive capacity, particularly by human-machine teaming was outlined, again with details from a technical and military view.<\/p>\n<p>The competition was then summed up by Joint Force Command and the competition process was explained.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"other-opportunities\">Other opportunities<\/h2>\n<p>UK Defence Solutions Centre then talked about export opportunities and Dual Use Technology Exploitation gave an overview of opportunities through non-defence markets.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-work-with-the-accelerator\">How to work with the Accelerator<\/h2>\n<p>The Accelerator team then outlined how organisations can <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/HeatherFionaEgan\/accelerator-innovation-network-event-session-3\">access the Accelerator and gave advice on how to submit good proposals<\/a> for funding.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"unmanned-warrior\">Unmanned Warrior<\/h2>\n<p>A briefing on the Unmanned Warrior was then given.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first Innovation Fund challenge was launched at the Accelerator networking event on 23 February 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/79296"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=79296"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/79296\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=79296"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=79296"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=79296"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
