{"id":79580,"date":"2017-03-09T16:00:34","date_gmt":"2017-03-09T16:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ec478afc53cd6b3ed679dbfb92198f18"},"modified":"2017-03-09T16:00:34","modified_gmt":"2017-03-09T16:00:34","slug":"news-story-unknown-world-war-1-soldiers-graves-rededicated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=79580","title":{"rendered":"News story: Unknown World War 1 soldiers graves rededicated"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A funeral service was held for three unknown soldiers who enlisted into The Lancashire Fusiliers, the New Zealand (<abbr title=\"The New Zealand Infantry\">NZ<\/abbr>) Infantry and of an unknown regiment on Tuesday 7 March 2017 at Perth Cemetery (China Wall) near Ypres, Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>The service, organised by the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\">MOD<\/abbr>\u2019s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (<abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr>), part of Defence Business Services was conducted by Reverend Chris Kellock, Chaplain 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.<\/p>\n<p>The service was supported by The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and by staff from the New Zealand Embassy. In attendance were delegates from both British and New Zealand Defence, regimental representatives and local dignitaries.<\/p>\n<p>Three sets of remains were discovered near Zonnebeke in December 2012 and accompanying military insignia indicated the casualties were World War 1 soldiers of The Lancashire Fusiliers and <abbr title=\"The New Zealand Infantry\">NZ<\/abbr> Infantry; no identifying insignia accompanied the third soldier. Despite extensive research, the <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> was unable to identify the casualties and they will be buried as \u2018Soldiers of the Great War known unto God\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Beverley Simon, <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We owe a huge debt to those who fought in the Great War and we at <abbr title=\"Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre\">JCCC<\/abbr> take immense pride in ensuring all those who died in the service of their country are laid to rest with the appropriate dignity, ceremony and respect.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Reverend Chris Kellock QCVS RAChD, Chaplain 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is always an immense privilege to be involved on such occasions as this.
