This research will be used to shape current and future Defence and Security strategy, policy and capability.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Human and Social Sciences Research Capability\">HSSRC<\/abbr> framework covers six main technical areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>human performance (physical and psychological)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>humans in systems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>training and education<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>personnel<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>understanding and influencing human behaviour and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>health, well-being and enhancing medical capabilities and systems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Market Interest Day for suppliers to find out more about the <abbr title=\"Human and Social Sciences Research Capability\">HSSRC<\/abbr> requirement was held on Tuesday 4 April 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The main objectives for the day were to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>provide an overview of the requirements for <abbr title=\"Human and Social Sciences Research Capability\">HSSRC<\/abbr> and associated timescales<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>discuss the requirement with potential contractors and sub-contractors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>offer an opportunity for Q&amp;A<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>provide a networking opportunity<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/5YDI30aN6bx\">View the <abbr title=\"Human and Social Sciences Research Capability\">HSSRC<\/abbr> Market Interest Day presentation slides.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event brought together over 150 delegates from academia, industry and <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> to discuss the requirements for the new framework.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy Evans, the Capability Lead for Human and Social Sciences at <abbr title=\"Defence Science and Technology Laboratory\">Dstl<\/abbr> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We are delighted to be able to discuss our requirement for a multi-million pound research framework for Human, Social and Behavioural Sciences in support of UK defence and security. The framework will enable us to collaborate with suppliers to provide cutting edge and world leading research to address some of Defence\u2019s highest priority people-related issues. At the Market Interest Day we gained huge value from talking to a broad range of suppliers, from large defence organisations, academia, SMEs and micro-organisations.
