{"id":79605,"date":"2017-03-10T09:59:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-10T09:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4da59dc6039073e54ca78162b20fd344"},"modified":"2017-03-10T09:59:30","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T09:59:30","slug":"press-release-public-appointments-cspl-view-on-pacac-follow-up-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=79605","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Public appointments: CSPL view on PACAC follow-up report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Committee firmly believes that a fair and open process for appointments to public bodies is important to the public\u2019s perception of standards in public life.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee has previously expressed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/cspl-submits-evidence-to-the-pacac-inquiry-on-the-grimstone-review\">concerns<\/a> about the Government\u2019s changes to the process for ministerial appointments to public bodies; an issue on which Lord Nolan first reported in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/mps-ministers-and-civil-servants-executive-quangos\">1995<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We note that the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/publicappointmentscommissioner.independent.gov.uk\/\">Commissioner for Public Appointments<\/a> Peter Riddell, secured some important changes during his discussions with the Government, but we believe the new regime will require continued monitoring and review.
