{"id":80367,"date":"2017-04-03T13:08:20","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T13:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4e348b71f524675408ccbd35b059614d"},"modified":"2017-04-03T13:08:20","modified_gmt":"2017-04-03T13:08:20","slug":"news-story-cma-appoints-senior-director-for-case-decision-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=80367","title":{"rendered":"News story: CMA appoints Senior Director for Case Decision Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>In this role Philip will have overall responsibility for the operation of <abbr title=\"Case Decision Groups\">CDGs<\/abbr>, which are the decision-makers, independent of the investigation team, on Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) cases under the Competition Act 1998.<\/p>\n<p>He will be responsible for overseeing their approach to ensure it is rigorous, fair, consistent and efficient, and applying any lessons learned from previous cases. He will participate in, and sometimes chair, individual Case Decision Groups, and will also contribute to discussions about the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s approach to enforcement as the UK prepares to leave the EU.<\/p>\n<p>To underpin separation of decision making, his role is operationally distinct from the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s enforcement directorate.<\/p>\n<p>Philip sat on, and chaired, Case Decision Groups in his capacity as a <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> Inquiry Chair prior to his term on the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> panel expiring on 31 March 2017.
