{"id":81286,"date":"2017-05-22T10:00:45","date_gmt":"2017-05-22T10:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=a32765a163cc2dfdfab516bfe9dabd63"},"modified":"2017-05-22T10:00:45","modified_gmt":"2017-05-22T10:00:45","slug":"news-story-car-parts-merger-referred-for-in-depth-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81286","title":{"rendered":"News story: Car parts merger referred for in-depth investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Earlier this month, the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/car-parts-merger-faces-in-depth-investigation\">it would refer the deal for an in-depth investigation<\/a> unless Euro Car Parts offered acceptable ways of addressing competition concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Euro Car Parts has chosen not to offer these and so the merger will now be referred for an in-depth investigation by an independent group of <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> panel members (known as phase 2). The deadline for the final decision is 5 November 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Both companies supply car parts to independent garages across the UK, and the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> found that they compete closely with each other. Therefore, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> is concerned that the merger could substantially reduce competition in a number of local areas, as well as for some large customers that purchase car parts on a national basis.
