{"id":81658,"date":"2017-06-18T14:37:20","date_gmt":"2017-06-18T14:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=3033ec5a638e67c297ad08c70d781d59"},"modified":"2017-06-18T14:37:20","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T14:37:20","slug":"news-story-john-griffith-jones-confirms-plan-to-leave-the-fca-and-psr-in-march-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81658","title":{"rendered":"News story: John Griffith-Jones confirms plan to leave the FCA and PSR in March 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/about\/fca-board\/john-griffith-jones\">John Griffith-Jones<\/a>, Chairman of the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/\">Financial Conduct Authority (<abbr title=\"Financial Conduct Authority\">FCA<\/abbr>)<\/a> and the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.psr.org.uk\">Payment Systems Regulator (<abbr title=\"Payment Systems Regulator\">PSR<\/abbr>)<\/a>, has confirmed that he will leave both organisations at the end of his term of office, on 31 March 2018.<\/p>\n<p>John Griffith-Jones commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I committed to a five year fixed term to chair the <abbr title=\"Financial Conduct Authority\">FCA<\/abbr> and, in so doing, to help ensure that conduct regulation became a respected part of the UK financial landscape. It has been, and continues to be, a great privilege to be responsible for the work of both the <abbr title=\"Financial Conduct Authority\">FCA<\/abbr> and the <abbr title=\"Payment Systems Regulator\">PSR<\/abbr>.  I like to believe that I will leave both in good shape to regulate well in the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>John Griffith-Jones was appointed as the first <abbr title=\"Financial Conduct Authority\">FCA<\/abbr> Chair with effect from 1 April 2013; he became Chair of the <abbr title=\"Payment Systems Regulator\">PSR<\/abbr> when it was established in April 2014; his term of office at both organisations expires on 31 March 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I want to thank John Griffith-Jones for his work as Chairman of both the Financial Conduct Authority and the Payment Systems Regulator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Both undertake a vital role in ensuring that the UK financial markets work well and that the interests of consumers and users of those markets are protected.
