{"id":81721,"date":"2017-06-20T13:53:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-20T13:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=17e0ac52ed46aba3d80e0872f1a36a59"},"modified":"2017-06-20T13:53:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-20T13:53:00","slug":"news-story-farmers-and-vets-gain-easy-access-to-sheep-disease-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81721","title":{"rendered":"News story: Farmers and vets gain easy access to sheep disease information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The sheep disease surveillance dashboard can be accessed via the Animal and Plant Health Agency\u2019s <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/ahvla.defra.gov.uk\/vet-gateway\/surveillance\/scanning\/sheep-dashboard.htm\">Vet Gateway.<\/a> It has an interactive map which gives access to information on a county, country or Great Britain basis and by time period and age group of sheep. Vets and farmers can find out the most common diagnoses in their area, or learn where specific diseases have been diagnosed.<\/p>\n<p>The data behind the dashboard come from diagnoses made by <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr>\u2019s Veterinary Investigation Centres across England and Wales, from the network of universities and other surveillance partners working with <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> and from Scotland\u2019s Rural College Disease Surveillance Centres across Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Irvine, <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr>\u2019s Veterinary Head of Scanning Surveillance, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The sheep disease surveillance dashboard provides vets and farmers with a user-friendly means of accessing sheep disease data and enables them to tailor it to their own requirements and interests. It shows how the diagnostic information captured from scanning surveillance across Great Britain can be shared and contributes to building a national picture of sheep health.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I would encourage both farmers and vets to try the dashboard as well as continuing to help <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> and our disease surveillance partners to protect the livestock industry by sharing information and intelligence about animal disease.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> are developing dashboards for other farmed animal species and the animal disease surveillance pages on the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/ahvla.defra.gov.uk\/vet-gateway\/surveillance\/index.htm\"><abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> Vet Gateway<\/a> have also been refreshed and enhanced.
