{"id":81742,"date":"2017-06-21T08:59:42","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T08:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=cd8d7b6bf48dee1e9be1bd9fc5f8b721"},"modified":"2017-06-21T08:59:42","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T08:59:42","slug":"news-story-fatal-accident-at-trenos-footpath-crossing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81742","title":{"rendered":"News story: Fatal accident at Trenos footpath crossing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>At around 15:50 hrs on 1 June 2017, a person was struck and fatally injured by a train travelling from Cheltenham Spa to Maesteg, at Trenos footpath crossing, near Llanharan, Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The crossing serves a footpath near Trenos Farm on a footpath linking the villages of Bryncae and Brynna, about 1.6 km (1 mile) west of Llanharan.  Two railway tracks cross the footpath at this location.<\/p>\n<p>Our investigation will seek to identify the sequence of events which led to the accident and will consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the actions of the person<\/li>\n<li>the actions of the railway staff involved<\/li>\n<li>any underlying management factors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our investigation is independent of any investigation by the railway industry, the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.btp.police.uk\/\">British Transport Police<\/a> or by the industry\u2019s regulator, the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/\">Office of Rail and Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We will publish our findings, including any recommendations to improve safety, at the conclusion of our investigation.
