{"id":81789,"date":"2017-06-22T09:00:04","date_gmt":"2017-06-22T09:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=284bfbe2b6aa96921b68e9072473dc9d"},"modified":"2017-06-22T09:00:04","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T09:00:04","slug":"news-story-over-a-quarter-of-a-million-new-homeowners-thanks-to-help-to-buy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81789","title":{"rendered":"News story: Over a quarter of a million new homeowners thanks to Help to Buy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistics\/help-to-buy-isa-scheme-quarterly-statistics-december-2015-to-31-march-2017\">The Help to Buy: ISA<\/a> has now helped over 960,000 people save towards their own home, and will assist thousands more into home ownership over the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>Help to Buy statistics released today (Thursday 22 June) show that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>over 285,000 completions have taken place using one or more of the Help to Buy schemes<\/li>\n<li>over 240,000 first time buyers are now on the housing ladder thanks to Help to Buy<\/li>\n<li>the average house price across the schemes is \u00a3193,826, which is below the average UK house price<\/li>\n<li>over 90% of completions across the Help to Buy schemes have taken place outside of London<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stephen Barclay, Economic Secretary to the Treasury said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We want to make sure that anyone who works hard and aspires to own their own home has that opportunity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">That is why I am delighted that our Help to Buy schemes have now helped over 240,000 first time buyers across the country achieve home ownership.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Alok Sharma, Housing and Planning Minister said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As set out in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/fixing-our-broken-housing-market\">Housing White Paper<\/a>, we\u2019re committed to helping those aspiring home buyers currently locked out of the market to turn their home ownership dreams into reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Today\u2019s figures show that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/help-to-buy-equity-loan-and-newbuy-statistics\">Help to Buy: Equity Loan<\/a> continues to be hugely successful, supporting thousands of households across the country to take their first step onto the housing ladder.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>More than 120,000 completions have now taken place through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/help-to-buy-equity-loan-and-newbuy-statistics\">Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme<\/a>, which offers buyers up to 20% of a newly-built home\u2019s costs so they only need to provide a 5% deposit.<\/p>\n<p>The North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the South West have seen the highest number of property completions using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistics\/help-to-buy-isa-scheme-quarterly-statistics-december-2015-to-31-march-2017\">Help to Buy: ISA<\/a>. In total, 62,528 completions across the UK using the ISA bonus have taken place since launch in December 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The London Help to Buy scheme provides an equity loan of up to 40% for buyers in the capital with a 5% deposit.
