{"id":81988,"date":"2017-06-28T08:56:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-28T08:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=fddd461a1f68ca9bc651c907d675785f"},"modified":"2017-06-28T08:56:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-28T08:56:00","slug":"press-release-more-than-105000-businesses-helped-through-start-up-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=81988","title":{"rendered":"Press release: More than 105,000 businesses helped through start-up fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>More than 105,000 businesses have been launched with the support from the New Enterprise Allowance (<abbr title=\"New Enterprise Allowance\">NEA<\/abbr>), a fund available to jobseekers with a business idea.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants get access to a business mentor, financial support for up to 6 months and may be able to apply for a loan of up to \u00a325,000 to help with start-up costs.<\/p>\n<p>The latest <abbr title=\"New Enterprise Allowance\">NEA<\/abbr> figures show that the North West had the highest number of start-ups (16,090), followed by London (12,870) and Yorkshire and Humberside (11,590).<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Employment Damian Hinds said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As these latest figures show, thousands of people across the country have great business ideas, and are taking the steps to turn them into a reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The <abbr title=\"New Enterprise Allowance\">NEA<\/abbr> provides the right mix of expert, tailored advice and support to people of all backgrounds which can be invaluable in the early days of starting a company.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The figures also show that of the individuals launching a business:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>over two thirds were aged between 25 and 49<\/li>\n<li>24% were over the age of 50<\/li>\n<li>7% were aged between 18 and 24<\/li>\n<li>40% were women<\/li>\n<li>22% have a self-declared disability<\/li>\n<li>13% were from a black and minority ethnic background<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sunderland-based Colin Young, 51, made use of the scheme to launch his business after being made redundant. The <abbr title=\"New Enterprise Allowance\">NEA<\/abbr> helped him start North East Drone Services, a professional drone photography service.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>After working as a TV and photography technician for 13 years, I decided to invest in myself with the New Enterprise Allowance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I met with an adviser who not only helped me with my business plan, up through the <abbr title=\"New Enterprise Allowance\">NEA<\/abbr> scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The financial support is paid as a weekly allowance of \u00a365 a week for 13 weeks and then \u00a333 for the
