{"id":82050,"date":"2017-06-29T15:00:15","date_gmt":"2017-06-29T15:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=95181dbd0c5cc28d4da19e2faaf3ae2b"},"modified":"2017-06-29T15:00:15","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T15:00:15","slug":"news-story-diebold-sale-resolves-cma-concerns-over-cashpoint-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=82050","title":{"rendered":"News story: Diebold sale resolves CMA concerns over cashpoint merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The sale comes after the Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/cma-orders-diebold-nixdorf-to-sell-one-of-uk-cashpoint-businesses\">ordered the company to sell one of its UK cashpoint businesses<\/a> earlier this year to address competition concerns around the global merger between Diebold and Wincor Nixdorf.<\/p>\n<p>Diebold Incorporated (Diebold), a US company which provides financial self-service products including automatic teller machines (ATMs or cashpoints), bought Wincor Nixdorf (Wincor), a German firm which also provides these products, on 16 August 2016. The new company was named Diebold Nixdorf Incorporated (Diebold Nixdorf).<\/p>\n<p>A group of independent panel members at the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/cma-cases\/diebold-wincor-nixdorf-merger-inquiry\">investigated the merger<\/a> and found the market for customer-operated ATMs in the UK had only 3 significant suppliers \u2013 NCR, Diebold and Wincor \u2013 and that the proposed merger would result in a substantial lessening of competition that could lead to higher prices or loss of quality for the companies\u2019 customers.<\/p>\n<p>To prevent this, the group decided that Diebold Nixdorf must sell either Diebold\u2019s or Wincor\u2019s UK customer-operated <abbr title=\"automatic teller machines\">ATM<\/abbr> business to a new owner, who would then have to be approved by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The purchase by Cennox (a UK-based specialist <abbr title=\"automatic teller machines\">ATM<\/abbr> services group) has now been approved by the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> and brings the merger investigation to a close.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diebold Nixdorf has sold Diebold\u2019s customer-operated cashpoint business in the UK to Cennox.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/82050"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=82050"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/82050\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=82050"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=82050"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=82050"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
