{"id":82093,"date":"2017-06-30T09:50:29","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T09:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ad47f35f7881411f583cdc701277bc25"},"modified":"2017-06-30T09:50:29","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T09:50:29","slug":"press-release-statement-from-the-independent-expert-advisory-panel-30-june-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=82093","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Statement from the Independent Expert Advisory Panel: 30 June 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Independent Expert Advisory Panel was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/expert-panel-appointed-to-advise-on-immediate-safety-action-following-grenfell-fire\">announced on Tuesday 27 June 2017<\/a> by Communities Secretary Sajid Javid.<\/p>\n<p>Panel members are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sir Ken Knight (chair) \u2013 former London Fire Commissioner and former Government Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser<\/li>\n<li>Dr Peter Bonfield \u2013 Chief Executive of the Building Research Establishment<\/li>\n<li>Amanda Clack \u2013 President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Partner at EY<\/li>\n<li>Roy Wilsher \u2013 Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Statement by the Independent Expert Advisory Panel:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The tests that are currently being conducted are a screening test to identify which Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) panels are of concern. It tests the filler \u2013 the core of the panel \u2013 to check if it is of limited combustibility (category 1) or not (category 2 or 3). This is in line with the requirement of the Building Regulations guidance. The filler is one element of the overall cladding system.<\/p>\n<p>If the panel core fails the test we would expect the landlord to take the recommended interim fire safety measures issued on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/safety-checks-following-the-grenfell-tower-fire-22-june-2017\">22 June 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The Panel will engage with experts across the country to consider whether these panels can be used safely as part of a wider building external wall system, and therefore could remain on a building under certain approved circumstances.
