{"id":82295,"date":"2017-07-06T11:57:43","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T11:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=989df889eb34c29dfdaa5b57785ab408"},"modified":"2017-07-06T11:57:43","modified_gmt":"2017-07-06T11:57:43","slug":"press-release-foreign-investors-see-opportunities-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=82295","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Foreign investors see opportunities in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>This led to over 5,500 new jobs being created providing security and stability to thousands of families.<\/p>\n<p>In another record year, the UK attracted 2,265 foreign direct investment projects which led to the creation of nearly 15,000 new jobs across the country.<\/p>\n<p>UK Government Minister Dr Ian Duncan said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today\u2019s figures show that Scotland and the whole of the UK is continuing to be an attractive destination for foreign investors who are recognising that our skills and world class industries are second to none.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We want this trend to continue and see even more investment, and I would encourage businesses to work with the UK Government\u2019s Department for International Trade who support businesses to reach markets around the world through their global network of embassy-based trade experts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These results are great news for Scotland. As world leaders across a range of sectors including life sciences, oil and gas and financial services, it\u2019s great to see foreign investors recognising the country\u2019s excellence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">As an international economic department, the Department for International Trade will continue to promote the UK as a whole to potential investors and support Scottish Development International to attract inward investment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The figures published today show that the US retains the top spot accounting for 577 projects of all inward investment projects to the UK. China (including Hong Kong) remains in second place with 160 projects and last year\u2019s third place India is joined by Australia and New Zealand in joint third place with 127 projects each.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrating the diversity of the UK\u2019s economy, sectors that performed particularly well include technology, renewable energy, life sciences and the creative industries which all saw an increase in the number of projects.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the government\u2019s drive to attract inward investment, in January this year the department launched a major global marketing campaign \u2013 Invest in GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland \u2013 to promote the UK\u2019s offering to international investors.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the campaign has generated 1.4 million page views of the invest section of the great.gov.uk digital service and recorded over 540 prospective investor enquiries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New figures published today by the Department for International Trade show Scotland attracted 183 inward investment projects in 2016-17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/82295"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=82295"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/82295\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=82295"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=82295"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=82295"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
