{"id":82719,"date":"2017-07-19T12:22:04","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T12:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=49bc5b9b553f7c04e51857062a477d0c"},"modified":"2017-07-19T12:22:04","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T12:22:04","slug":"press-release-groceries-code-review-notes-significant-cultural-change-in-supermarket-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=82719","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Groceries Code review notes significant cultural change in supermarket industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Small Business Minister Margot James has welcomed a positive relationship change between supermarkets and their suppliers, as she publishes the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/groceries-code-adjudicator-statutory-review-2013-to-2016\">statutory review of the Groceries Code Adjudicator (<abbr title=\"Groceries Code Adjudicator\">GCA<\/abbr>)<\/a> today (19 July 2017).<\/p>\n<p>The review, which considered independent findings from YouGov alongside responses from trade associations, supermarkets and suppliers, found that the <abbr title=\"Groceries Code Adjudicator\">GCA<\/abbr>, Christine Tacon <abbr title=\"Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire\">CBE<\/abbr>, has been effective in exercising her powers and enforcing the Groceries Code. Suppliers reported a positive change in their relationship with large retailers, as well as a major reduction in unfair trading practices. The number of suppliers who complained about being charged to remain on supermarkets\u2019 supplier lists fell from 30% to 9% between 2014 and 2016, while problems with incorrect deductions from invoices fell from 47% to 30% over the same period.<\/p>\n<p>A number of respondents praised Ms Tacon personally, with one citing her \u201cwealth of knowledge and skills\u201d. Another commented that she \u201cholds an in-depth knowledge of the sector that is hugely beneficial.<\/p>\n<p>Small Business Minister Margot James said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>This review highlights the excellent work of the Groceries Code Adjudicator over the past 3 years.
