{"id":83061,"date":"2017-07-28T13:20:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-28T13:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=74f28c6f70db07997d4b1caae99688b5"},"modified":"2018-10-18T13:59:03","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T13:59:03","slug":"news-story-changes-to-uk-aviation-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=83061","title":{"rendered":"News story: Changes to UK aviation security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Updated:<\/em> Amman airport in Jordan no longer subject to restrictions on carrying large phones, laptops and tablets in the cabin.<\/p>\n<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p>Restrictions on carrying large phones, laptops and tablets in the cabin have been lifted on all <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr> bound flights from the following airports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amman (Jordan)<\/li>\n<li>Antalya (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Bodrum (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Cairo (Egypt)<\/li>\n<li>Dalaman (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Hurghada (Egypt)<\/li>\n<li>Istanbul Atat\u00fcrk (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Istanbul Sabiha G\u00f6k\u00e7en (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Izmir (Turkey)<\/li>\n<li>Luxor (Egypt)<\/li>\n<li>Marsa Alam (Egypt)<\/li>\n<li>Tunis-Carthage International (Tunisia)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Passengers on flights where restrictions have been lifted will now be able to take large phones, laptops, tablets and accessories into the cabin with them. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/hand-luggage-restrictions\/electronic-devices-and-electrical-items\">Normal cabin baggage restrictions will continue to apply<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Restrictions have also been lifted on a number of individual airlines operating from other airports. The vast majority of carriers operating from airports in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon are no longer subject to these restrictions. Passengers should contact their airlines for advice about whether their flights are affected.<\/p>\n<p>This page will be updated on an airport-by-airport basis, once restrictions have been lifted on all affected airlines serving the airport in question.<\/p>\n<p>This information is correct as of 18 October 2018.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr> government has lifted a ban on carrying large electronic devices in the aircraft cabin of some flights to the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>Restrictions on carrying large phones, laptops, tablets and accessories into the cabin of <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>-bound flights from Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Tunisia were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/additional-hand-luggage-restrictions-on-some-flights-to-the-uk\">introduced in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, after working with the aviation industry and international partners to introduce tough additional security measures, the <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr> government has begun lifting these restrictions on some <abbr title=\"United Kingdom\">UK<\/abbr>-bound flights.<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority of carriers operating out of these airports are no longer subject to these restrictions. Some airlines have decided to maintain the ban for operational reasons. This does not reflect the security standards at these airports, but is an operational decision by individual carriers.
