{"id":83187,"date":"2017-08-02T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T17:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=a13e92f5ab9178f45db3b97cbcda4a4b"},"modified":"2017-08-02T17:31:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T17:31:00","slug":"news-story-government-fire-safety-testing-programme-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=83187","title":{"rendered":"News story: Government fire safety testing programme continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The second in the government\u2019s series of fire safety tests of cladding and insulation combinations has been completed by the Building Research Establishment (<abbr title=\"Building Research Establishment\">BRE<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>This test was of a wall cladding system consisting of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding with a polyethylene filler (category 3) with stone wool insulation.<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s expert panel advises that the results show this combination does not meet current building regulation guidance.<\/p>\n<p>111 buildings are currently known to have this combination of materials in their wall cladding systems \u2013 90 of which are local authority or housing association owned or managed.<\/p>\n<p>Cladding samples from all these buildings had already been tested and failed earlier combustibility tests conducted by <abbr title=\"Building Research Establishment\">BRE<\/abbr>. Building owners were advised to take immediate action by implementing interim safety measures and working with their local fire and rescue service to complete a fire safety audit.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s (2 August 2017) test results reinforce the evidence already provided to these building owners about fire risks.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to earlier advice provided to them following the initial tests, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/advice-for-building-owners-large-scale-wall-system-test--2\">further detailed advice<\/a> has been issued to building owners. They need to act on this advice to ensure the safety of residents. The government is working closely with all affected building owners to ensure the advice is being followed.<\/p>\n<p>Last week (28 July) the government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/independent-review-of-building-regulations-and-fire-safety\">announced the independent review<\/a> of building regulations and fire safety.
